The big white pine tree in the foreground draws you in but then your eye travels around the scene. The warm orange leaves of the oak trees leftover from the fall leads you to the bright white snow where the sun is hitting. The logs across the river just beg you to cross it and continue exploring as you take in that bright spot of blue of the reflected sky in the water.
Winter River Series
This is the fourth painting of six in the Winter Rivers series. I took my golden, Moto, on a hike in the woods in late March. I was snapping photos of all the trees but then I crested a small hill and saw a running river before me. I literally gasped at the sight! I took so many pictures of the river on my afternoon adventure. The day was perfect, the sun was shining and the water was running, which you don’t always see in winter in Minnesota. I had this overwhelming feeling of joy that whole afternoon. I stayed out on that hike for over 4 hours, just taking in all the sights and sounds, getting exercise and fresh air, and capturing this special time of year. This series captures that hike, as I followed the meandering river while the sun was making its way to the horizon.
There are six paintings in this series and any of them would pair excellently with any of the others, making them the perfect paintings to be purchased in a set.
